Ultra-Lights go as small as R14 or 155/80r13 & Low - High Profiles go upward from 205 to 215, 225 to 245 & 315 for tire - wheel sizing

GT / GT3 a uses a staggered 20/21-inch setup. The factory setup for current models includes front 245/35ZR20 tires on 9Jx20 wheels and rear 305/30ZR21 tires on 11.5Jx21 wheels.

BMW engineers its vehicles to achieve a near-perfect 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution

This balance provides neutral handling, predictable cornering stability, and even tire wear.

How BMW Achieves the 50/50 Balance
Instead of simply adding dead weight to the rear, BMW utilizes several clever design strategies to perfectly balance their vehicles:

Engine Placement: Heavy engines (like the famous inline-six) are mounted as far back as possible, positioned completely behind the front axle's centerline.

Lightweight Materials: Extensive use of aluminum in the front axles, hot-formed steel, magnesium engine blocks, and carbon-fiber roofs prevent the front from becoming too heavy. .

Component Relocation: Heavy components like the battery are typically relocated to the trunk.

The Benefits of 50/50 Weight Distribution

Neutral Handling: Distributing the weight evenly prevents the car from suffering from severe understeer or oversteer, keeping the car predictable at its limits.

Better Braking: Even loading ensures both front and rear tires bite into the road consistently during hard braking.

Traction & Control: It simplifies suspension tuning, allowing for a much more comfortable yet responsive daily driving experience.

Important Caveats

While a vehicle may leave the factory with a perfect 50:50 distribution (e.g., the M3 achieves 50.1/49.9), keep in mind that this perfect ratio fluctuates as you add a driver, passengers, luggage, or consume fuel from the rear-mounted gas tank.
