ELECTRICITY DUCTED FANS EDF'S WORK

Converting a literal jet engine to run on pure electricity is not physically feasible because jet engines rely on the continuous thermodynamic combustion of jet fuel to create hot expanding gas and thrust. Instead, people replace jet or gas turbine setups with electric ducted fans (EDFs) or use micro-turbines as range-extending generators for electric vehicles.

Alternative Approaches to "Electric Jet" Conversions

Electric Ducted Fans (EDFs): Replace the internal combustion and exhaust core of a jet housing with a high-RPM electric motor spinning a multi-blade fan inside a shroud.

Turbine Range Extenders: Use a small micro-turbine/jet-fuel auxiliary power unit to burn fuel and spin a generator, creating electricity to charge an EV battery pack rather than driving the wheels directly.

In-Ground Electric Taxiing: Some heavy transport concepts repurpose auxiliary jet units to generate onboard electrical power for taxiing wheels, cutting main jet fuel usage on the ground.

AVIATION REFERS TO

Aviation refers to the design, development, production, and operation of heavier-than-air and lighter-than-air aircraft. It is broadly divided into two main categories: civil aviation and military aviation. You can check official regulatory guidelines and safety standards through Transport Canada or the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Major Branches of Aviation

Civil Aviation: Includes all non-military flying, split into commercial air transport (passenger and cargo airlines), general aviation (private flying and flight training), and aerial work (specialized services like firefighting and medical evacuation).

Military Aviation: Encompasses the development and use of aircraft by armed forces for combat, transport, reconnaissance, and strategic operations.

Core Components

Aircraft Types: Renders mechanical flight via fixed-wing airplanes, rotary-wing helicopters, airships, and hot air balloons.

Regulation & Safety: Governed globally and locally by strict airworthiness rules, pilot licensing standards, and real-time fleet health tracking.

AFTERBURNERS

Aircraft using afterburners can be heard from the ground at extreme altitudes up to 30,000 to 40,000 feet (5.5 to 7.5 miles high), provided ambient ground noise is very low. There is no hard altitude ceiling where jet noise instantly cuts off; audibility depends entirely on atmospheric sound bending (such as temperature inversions) and background quietness.

Key Factors in Hearing High-Altitude Afterburners

Decibel Output: An afterburner generates over 140 decibels at the source, making it vastly louder than a standard commercial turbofan engine.

Acoustic Filtering: The atmosphere absorbs high-pitched whines over long distances, leaving a deep, rumbling low-frequency sound wave that travels efficiently to the ground.

Atmospheric Refraction:Temperature inversions (warm air over cold air) can bend sound waves downward toward the Earth, making high-altitude military jets sound surprisingly close and loud.

Time Delay: Sound takes roughly 30 seconds to travel down from an altitude of 35,000 feet, meaning the jet will have moved significantly from where you visually spot it in the sky.

AFTERBURNERS  - ELECTRIC EQUIVLANCE

An afterburner fundamentally relies on secondary combustion to generate extra thrust, meaning a strictly "non-combustion afterburner" is a contradiction in terms. However, this concept closely relates to dry thrust (maximum power without lighting the burner) or supercruise (supersonic flight using only standard engine combustion).

Standard vs. Non-Burning High-Power Operation

Afterburner (Wet Thrust): Raw fuel is injected directly into hot exhaust gases behind the turbine and ignited, increasing thrust by up to 70% or more at a severe cost to fuel efficiency.

Dry Thrust: The base jet engine operates at maximum throttle without igniting the fuel bars in the exhaust duct.

Supercruise: Advanced military aircraft achieve supersonic speeds on dry thrust alone without ever turning on an afterburner.

Aircraft Capable of Supersonic Flight Without Combustion Augmentation

Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor: Uses powerful Pratt & Whitney F119 engines to supercruise past Mach 1.5 cleanly.

Eurofighter Typhoon: Capable of limited supercruise capability depending on payload weight and configuration.

Dassault Rafale: Can achieve supersonic speeds dry under specific clean configurations.

An electric afterburner typically refers to either an electrothermal emission-control device used in commercial machinery like coffee roasters, a simulated LED lighting kit for radio-controlled (RC) jets, or experimental hybrid setups combining electric ducted fans (EDFs) with physical combustion.

Types of Electric Afterburners

Electrothermal Afterburners: Used on commercial electric coffee roasters (such as the Cafemino Electric) to condition and burn off smoke, micro-particles, and odors via electrical heating elements, allowing indoor operation without external venting.

RC Model LED Afterburners: Simulated light and electronic systems (like the CenterBurner) installed on remote-control model aircraft powered by electric ducted fans to mimic real jet engine flame glows during throttle changes.

Hobbyist/Experimental Jet Mods: DIY projects where creators build hybrid systems adding fuel injectors and igniters to the exhaust of a powerful electric ducted fan (EDF) unit to create a real secondary combustion thrust.

ALL THE R&D FUNDING TO GET TO ALMOST

But we had fun. Lived off. Little change. Ah haha

So. Sydney Nicola Bennett's team. Actual results

Hydrogen Hybrid Afterburn if anything

ALMOST PERPETUAL HYDROGEN IN-HOUSE

"Exo-shell voiding fire & explosion then chimney fire purge exhaust effect leading up back - up & out"

This in a roll over or crash voids hydrogen tank explosion especially with in-house water electroylizers shrinking tank reliance

Sydney Bennett's Almost Perpetual Hydrogen. A different take. Now Snow Scooped into a tray for winter acts equivalent to certified desalinated water while lake, river & streams are not approved due to depletion concerns & contaminate

Tank explosion risk now sees a purge - exhaust where nothing. Burns out clean. No fire. Explosion.

Purge caps reseal. Refill after managed monitored inspection with digital - physical reference

Continue onward. Energy Shut-Off off built in

Frame has bridge effect at C/M. Arch. So no explosion on 10x roll over variables & impacts on 360 degree crumble zones

Snow - non-snow usage. A mesh filter & debris cage you empty for contamination voudance leads to clean burning water

Metered per kilometer. 400 km or equivalent in miles. $15-30 for 400 includes taxes & R&D yet desalinated Hydrogen stockpiles off Emergency Safety Water management for months of no snow or climates with no snow are considered. Snow locally if lakes, streams & rivers are not depleted & lacking volume can be harvested for use on a large scale or medium while we calculate melting snow into ground water systems & aquifiers or basins

The $15-30 fee shrinks if Hydrogen expense grows to balance yet taxes remain the same

SUPERSIZE - SUPER CRUISE

Supercruise is sustained supersonic flight achieved without using an afterburner, relying entirely on the dry thrust of standard engine combustion.

Key Aspects of Supercruise

No Afterburner: Normal supersonic flight requires an afterburner—which dumps raw fuel into the exhaust to multiply thrust and burns fuel three times faster. Supercruise avoids this waste.

Efficiency and Range: By using only standard engine power, aircraft burn significantly less fuel, allowing for much greater range and longer supersonic times at high altitudes.

Tactical Advantage: Fighters using supercruise have a lower heat (infrared) signature and do not reveal themselves as easily as planes using bright afterburner flames.

Prominent Examples: The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is the pre-eminent military aircraft capable of routine supercruise (exceeding Mach 1.5), alongside limited capabilities in jets like the Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale.
