ELECTRIC MOTOR - SIZING LIMITATIONS
Traditional thoughts yet we break cycle.
An electric motor cannot shrink in physical size simply by pumping more electricity into it to raise its horsepower equivalence. Physical size is limited by heat dissipation and magnetic saturation, meaning a smaller motor forced to output higher power will overheat and burn out.
Why Extra Power Doesn't Shrink Motors
Heat Limits: Pumping more current through smaller windings generates extreme heat that tiny frames cannot disperse.
Magnetic Saturation: Core iron magnets reach a maximum limit where adding more electricity creates no extra rotational force.
Continuous vs. Peak: A small motor can deliver a high "burst" of power briefly, but its continuous horsepower rating remains bound by its physical mass.
Electric vs. Gas Equivalency
Instant Torque: Electric motors feel more powerful than gas engines of the same rating because they deliver full torque at zero RPM.
No Stalling: Gas engines need high RPMs to reach peak horsepower, leading people to think lower-rated electric motors are physically smaller equivalents.
